WPC Future Leaders Forum 2016

In 2016, from 24 to 27 October, IBP – Brazilian Petroleum, Natural Gas & Biofuels Institute brought to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the fifth edition of the largest gathering of young professionals in the petroleum industry. Under the motto “Game changers: new leaders for a new competitive energy industry”, the 2016 edition of the event, created by the World Petroleum Council (WPC), had as pillars of discussion topics such as industry sustainability, business leadership and technology & innovation.

FLF is a global and collaborative event.
To organize this 5th edition here in Brazil, young professionals from all around the globe did a lot of research, organized a lot of focus groups, discussions and meetings.

Brian joined IPIECA as the Executive Director in 2011 following a 23 year career in BP. He graduated in Metallurgy and Materials Science from Imperial College, London, UK and was recruited into BP’s Refining and Marketing international graduate programme in 1986.
Over the course of 23 years, his career included assignments in London, Copenhagen, Budapest, Athens and Johannesburg, and business experience in over 60 countries. During his time with BP he has had a varied career of technical, commercial, financial and leadership roles across the downstream value chain including crude and products trading, marine fuels, lubricants and alternative energy.

He has more than 34 years of experience and knowledge in the energy and industry sectors around the world in both public and private service. At IEA, Naceur oversees the Energy and Environment, Energy Technology Policy and Energy Supply and Demand Outlook divisions, being responsible for the production of the World Energy Outlook and the Energy Technology Perspectives. After a long career in Schlumberger, in 2014, he became Tunisia’s Minister for Industry, Energy and Mines in a government tasked to lead the country’s first fully democratic elections. A French-Tunisian dual national, Naceur is a graduate from Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole Normale Supérieure of France.

Rafael Jaen Williamson is a seasoned executive with over 35 years in the oil & gas industry, with strong technical and operational backgrounds. Rafael has spent the last 10 years in the public and government affairs space where he is considered a subject matter expert in advocacy, reputation and crisis management, and on strategic stakeholder management.
Prior to entering the public and government affairs field, Rafael devoted over 20 years to the managing and operating of refineries in the Americas, specializing in optimization of operations.
Rafael authored “Energía en Latinoamérica: crónicas de la búsqueda de una identidad” (ISBN 978-9962-676-02-7), a book on energy in Latin America. Moreover, he has contributed with a variety of energy-related articles to specialized magazines. He has delivered more than 18 international speeches to external audiences. He has also lectured as a professor in marketing to the MBA courses at Universidad Interamericana de Panamá.
Rafael was bestowed with the Interamerican Medal by the Interamerican University of Panamá. This medal is bestowed to members of the University community, who have accomplished actions and services in favor of the Institution, have demonstrated a special capacity and dedication, or have excelled in promoting the prestige of the University in a national & international level.
He is graduated in Chemical Engineering and holds an MBA, with emphasis in Marketing. With a multicultural background, Rafael is fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese. He has worked and lived in Panama, USA and Brazil.

Since 2002, Patricia has held different managerial position in Shell, with focus on Reputation Management; Stakeholder Engagement; Identification and Integration of Non-Technical Risks; Government Relations and Social Performance. Patricia started to work in the oil & gas industry when hired by the British Government in Rio de Janeiro to support British companies interested in doing business in Brazil after the country opened up for investments in 1998. She has a bachelor degree in International Relations and is qualified in Foreign Trade. Her professional experience covers both public and private institutions.
