WPC Future Leaders Forum 2016

In 2016, from 24 to 27 October, IBP – Brazilian Petroleum, Natural Gas & Biofuels Institute brought to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the fifth edition of the largest gathering of young professionals in the petroleum industry. Under the motto “Game changers: new leaders for a new competitive energy industry”, the 2016 edition of the event, created by the World Petroleum Council (WPC), had as pillars of discussion topics such as industry sustainability, business leadership and technology & innovation.

FLF is a global and collaborative event.
To organize this 5th edition here in Brazil, young professionals from all around the globe did a lot of research, organized a lot of focus groups, discussions and meetings.

Brian joined IPIECA as the Executive Director in 2011 following a 23 year career in BP. He graduated in Metallurgy and Materials Science from Imperial College, London, UK and was recruited into BP’s Refining and Marketing international graduate programme in 1986.
Over the course of 23 years, his career included assignments in London, Copenhagen, Budapest, Athens and Johannesburg, and business experience in over 60 countries. During his time with BP he has had a varied career of technical, commercial, financial and leadership roles across the downstream value chain including crude and products trading, marine fuels, lubricants and alternative energy.

Ivan Almeida was born in Luanda, Angola. He is a geologist and has a master’s degree in Geo Sciences at the University of Indiana, USA (1998). He began his career in Exploration at Sonangol, Angola. In 1999 he joined ExxonMobil as Geologist of Operations, where he acted in a great variety of campaigns throughout the world, in countries such as Angola, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Chade, Russia, Norway, Trinidad and Tobago and Australia. At the American oil company, Almeida occupied several positions (technical and managerial), among them Operations Supervisor, Development Projects Modeling and Interpretation Supervisor and New Projects Director. He now occupies the position of Operations Manager at ExxonMobil in Brazil.

Mariana Pedreira

R&D Partnerships and Regulation Manager

Mariana has 19 years of professional experience in the Brazilian energy sector, mainly in the Oil and Gas industry (Upstream and Downstream). During this period she has been working for regulated companies for 17 years in the following areas: government relations through interface with regulator, federal government and public universities; consumer’s expansion; sales management; corporate performance; managing the framework to implement processes to comply with R&D obligation. She has a Bachelor degree in Agricultural Engineer at USP-ESALQ and a Master’s Degree in Energy Planning at USP – PPGE.

He is also an Executive Chairman of OLAJTERV Group from 2010 to date.
Toth worked as a vice president of World Petroleum Council from 2000 to 2005 and became a senior vice president of the WPC in 2008. He was elected the President of the WPC in 2014.
The economist is an Honorary Professor at the University of Veszprém, Hungary. WPC president is a Doctor of Economics. He studied in Budapest University of Economics and was granted a post-graduate scholarship at Imperial College, London University.

Csaba Zsótér

Product & Renewables Trading Manager

Csaba Zsótér (Hungary) is Product & Renewables Trading Manager in MOL Group. In this position he manages MOL Group trading activities in relation to oil products (light, middle and heavy distillates) and to biofuels and other renewables.
Csaba started his career in MOL Group in 2008 at Corporate Business Development M&A department. He graduated at Corvinus University of Budapest as economist, where he acted as part-time seminar teacher for years.
Csaba joined WPC Youth Committee in September 2013 as the representative of Hungary, participating in the 2013 Youth Forum in Canada. He was a Mentee in WPC Mentoring Program, main coordinator of WPC Youth Survey 2014 and head of the organizing team of the WPC Tomorrow’s Leaders Symposium (“European downstream: reFINEd future of the industry”) in October 2015 in Budapest.
