The Brazilian Institute of Oil and Gas (IBP) has appointed the organization’s new Executive Director of Exploration and Production (E&P). Unanimously approved by the Board of Directors, Claudio Fontes Nunes will take over as E&P Director to replace Julio Moreira.

A professional with vast experience in leadership positions in the oil and gas industry in Brazil and abroad, Claudio Nunes is a civil engineer with a degree from UFRJ and a petroleum engineer with a degree from Petrobras University, with technical, financial and managerial specialization from the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.

He has served as Executive Manager of the Engineering and HSE areas at Petrobras, Director of Services and Director of Gas and Energy at Petrobras Argentina, Chairman of the Boards of Directors of the companies TGS and EDESUR in Argentina, President of Petrobras America in Houston, USA, and President of the Brazil-Texas Chamber of Commerce (BRATECC). He has been working in the private sector since 2019, on projects to acquire O&G and power generation assets, and other entrepreneurial initiatives.

The IBP publicly expresses its gratitude for Julio Moreira’s work and valuable contributions as head of the E&P department.
