More than thirty CEOs, vice presidents and directors of national and foreign companies will give talks in the four days of the congress

For the first time, the largest oil and gas event in Latin America will have a theme block dedicated to digital technologies. Traditionally, Rio Oil & Gas is divided into four discussion blocks dealing with Exploration & Production, Gas & Energy, Downstream (Refining & Supply) and Industry Management. In this 19th edition, the fifth block on digital technologies will be added, an evolution in programming.

“Digital technology is leading the industry to migration to predictive and non-preventive evolution, when we will build actions absolutely instrumented to maximize digital evolution. Technology 4.0 is reaching all industries, and Rio Oil & Gas is a meeting point to discuss the impacts of this topic on the oil and gas industry. This is one of the differentials of this edition”, said José Firmo, president of the Brazilian Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Institute (IBP), which has been holding the event since 1982.

Rio Oil & Gas 2018 that runs from September 24 to 27 in Rio de Janeiro already has the confirmation of more than 30 CEOs, vice presidents and directors of national and international operators and service providers, as well as authorities and members of the IEA (International Energy Agency) to speak at the congress, further increasing the quality of programming content. The conference will have more than 200 speakers, 35 special sessions, as well as plenary sessions, topical luncheons, and presentation of about 600 technical papers.

“The new moment of Brazil in the oil scenario, with the return of the brazilian bidding rounds, the rise of the oil barrel price and the recovery of the industry indicate that this will be Rio Oil & Gas’s recovery edition,” adds Firmo.

In 2016, Rio Oil & Gas had 4,177 participants, the largest number of delegates of all editions. The IBP forecast for this year, however, is that it has a 20% growth in public, taking 41,000 participants to Riocentro, among delegates, exhibitors and visitors. Rio Oil & Gas also has a direct impact on the city’s business tourism. The event has an impact on more than 30 hotels in Rio de Janeiro, and the expectation is to generate more than three thousand direct and indirect jobs in the city.

Exhibition and parallel events

This year, six international pavilions – China, UK, France, Germany, Norway and Israel – have been confirmed so far.

Also in the area of the exhibition, will be distributed the parallel events that will deal with cross-cutting themes. They are: Oil & Gas Techweek, Sustainability Arena and HSE, Valor Knowledge Arena, as well as specific forums on Downstream, Onshore, Decommissioning, Certification and Professional of the Future.

Oil&Gas Techweek will discuss trends, technologies (internet of things, artificial intelligence, and autonomous vehicles), challenges and future demands of the oil and gas industry. It will also address ways to stimulate innovation and dialogue with the new generation of digital professionals, as well as the presentation of market initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, such as carbon capture and investments in other energy sources.

Petrobras will make O&G Techweek a hackathon, a programming marathon in which hackers have access to open data and systems and work for hours on end in building technological software and hardware solutions. The hackathon will be performed with support from the Startups Factory.

Once again, Sebrae organizes a Business Round with anchor companies and suppliers. In this edition, the expectation is a 30% increase in business generated, compared to the previous edition, when R $ 181 million were recorded.

At the Downstream Forum, issues of current and general relevance, such as logistics, supply and fuel prices, will be highlighted.

The Sustainability and HSE Arena this year will focus on occupational health as well as operational safety. In the same space, the occupational health will be treated in panel with specialists of the Albert Einstein Hospital, national medical reference institution in Brazil.

Rio Oil & Gas will also have another edition of the Professional of the Future, whose goal is to bring university students closer to the industry’s top managers. There will also be a dinner with CEOs, which allows for contact and exchange among young professionals up to 35 years of age, who may be the future leaders of the industry, with 20 executives who are ahead of the main energy companies in the country.

Complete programming can be accessed through the event´s website www.riooilgas.com.br or by the Rio Oil & Gas app, available for download on Google Play or the App Store.
