The meeting was a foreword debate about industry’s prospects in a time of deep changes, setting the stage for the big discussion that will take place during Rio Oil & Gas’s conference – with 22 special sessions and over 100 speakers from all over the world.

The meeting was hosted by Petrobras executive director of Human Resources, SMS and Services,  Hugo Repsold, also a IBP Board member, the president of the IBP, Jorge Camargo, the secretary general, Milton Costa Filho, the E&P Executive Secretary, Antonio Guimarães and also Exhibition committee chairman, João Carlos de Luca.

A sea of opportunities

According to Hugo Repsold, from Petrobras, “we are living a period of many changes and it is important that all professionals working in this industry get engaged in these changes, including the young ones, who will built its future”.  He highlighted the 5th edition of WPC Future Leaders Forum, a global event that will bring together over 600 young leaders from several countries during Rio Oil & Gas.

Furthermore, IBP President, Jorge Camargo, said, “Rio Oil & Gas  will be a turnaround moment for investments in the industry. That’s why companies should be there, to understand better the opportunities that will present themselves,” said.

IBP’s E&P executive secretary, Antonio Guimarães, brought to the table that the time is affirmative, because the country has a high potential and government’s authorities signals with changes to increase the attractiveness of investments. “The industry needs to adapt to investment levels happening at a time of low prices, which should extend in the long term, adjusting its costs and the government needs to ensure that the terms are attractive so that we will have successful bidding rounds next year”, said Guimarães.
