Brazil will be the host of the 2017 edition of International Gas Union Research Conference (IGRC), to be held in May 2017, in Rio de Janeiro. The event is organized by IBP – Brazilian Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Institute, in partnership with International Gas Union (IGU).

This edition has as theme “Natural Gas: Catalysing the Future” and it will debate international gas industry issues such as industrial, domestic and commercial gas utilization, energy convergence, gas transmission and distribution, and many others.
According IBP’s Natural Gas Manager, Jorge Delmonte, organizing this event in Brazil reinforces the potential of the country to develop natural gas sector. “We have many issues that are being discussed in the Brazilian gas industry, regarding challenges such as the gas production in pre salt fields. Once they were overcome, they have potential to turn into new opportunities”.

IGRC is an itinerant event and it is held every three years in different countries around the globe. The last edition was organized by Danish Gas Technology Centre (DGC) in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2014.
