Last Tuesday, February 18th, IBP’s general secretary, Cristina Pinho, participated on the webinar “State of Play and Opportunities in Brazil’s Oil and Gas Market”, organized in partnership with the Energy Industries Council (EIC). Broadcasted simultaneously to Brazil and the United Kingdom, the program addressed the scenario of the O&G industry in Brazil, the main sector projects in the country and market expectations for Rio Oil & Gas 2020, the largest O&G event in Latin America.

In her presentation, Cristina gave an overview of business opportunities in the Brazilian O&G sector, including the estimate of over US $ 600 billion in investments in energy supply in Brazil over the next 10 years, with 80% of this amount expected only for O&G and biofuels sectors. Brazilian borders are attractive, with 97% of subscription bonuses paid worldwide, between January and October 2019, having been at auctions in the country.

“And what does that represent? Many investments will be made in Brazil in the coming years, and companies should come to work and to share these investments”, affirmed Cristina.

She also highlighted some figures from Rio Oil & Gas, which takes place between 21 and 24 September, in Rio de Janeiro. In 2018, the conference brought together more than 500 exhibitors, 42,200 visitors, 5,000 congressmen, more than 200 speakers and more than 1,000 content presentations, which included plenary sessions, special sessions and lunch-lectures. For this edition, before the table turn in January, the exhibition already had 80% of its area reserved – a number 60% higher if compared to the same period prior to the previous edition.

Moderated by Clarisse Rocha, Head of Americas at EIC, the broadcast also featured Pietro Ferreira, Senior Regional Analyst at EIC. The expert presented an overview of oil and gas projects in Brazil, including opportunities in the upstream, midstream and downstream.
